ACTRESS SAYS ‘FACEBOOK RAPIST’ SEEMED GENUINE

The singer-actress also tells the publication that the convicted murderer Thabo Bester had booked her to appear at the launch of his fake 21st Century Media company in June 2018 and paid for her appearances at events.

“He booked a few of us for the gala event [in Sandton in 2018, where he appeared on screen and was wished a happy birthday, despite being in prison at the time]. He worked with a lot of media people, and it always appeared to be a genuine business. He said he had a few shows which he was producing with [a major American media company].”

The singer also says she doesn’t know how Bester got her phone number, but she knew him because he worked with a lot of media people and appeared to operate in a reputable circle of people.

The “Facebook Rapist”, who’s also known for his multiple aliases used his real name when he contacted the actress, who was shocked when he informed her he was in prison, but reasoned that it must have been for a lesser crime.

She adds that he also asked her to audition for a few TV roles and that it seemed legitimate as the auditions were held in the Sandton Towers.

“His PA was there. Everyone [who should be there for an audition] was there. There was proper lighting, etc.”

She was shocked when she eventually realised who he was through media reports: “It was unexpected. I really thought he was genuine”.

THABO BESTER WANTED TO WIN HIS FREEDOM BACK

The publication adds that the convicted killer Thabo Bester turned his maximum security jail into his personal empire when he began his relationship with Dr Nandipha Magudumana.

The Mangaung Prison records reveal that he began a campaign to convince journalists he was not a rapist through his relationship with Magudumana and ran multiple businesses, organised events, booked celebrities, etc.

GroundUp reported in March, how Bester pretended to be “Tom Motsepe”, the New York-based chairperson of 21st Century Media.

“Attendees were told that the chairman of the company, “Tom Motsepe”, would video call in from New York. But unbeknown to the audience, the man appearing on the big screen was actually convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester, speaking from prison”, adds the publication.
