Linda Mtoba returns to ‘The River’ as Nomonde Dikana

Actress Linda Mtoba will reprise her character as Lindiwe’s stepdaughter, Nomonde Dikana in 1Magic’s ‘The River’.

THE RETURN OF NOMONDE DIKANA

The TVSA The River September teasers confirm that talented actress Linda Mtoba will return to the 1Magic telenovela in September.

The teasers indicate that fans of the show will start seeing Nomonde on Wednesday, 13 September as the teaser reads:

“Nomonde acts out when she realises she’s no longer welcome in Lindiwe’s house.”

Thursday, 14 September: “Nomonde continues to wreak havoc in Lindiwe’s house. Cobra faces a hard truth.”

Mtoba took a break from the show towards the end of 2022 when her father Zweli Dikana, played by legendary actor Hlomla Dandala exited the show.

Dandala resigned from the telenovela after playing Lindiwe’s husband, Zweli for five seasons.

‘THE RIVER’ COMES TO AN END

Other actors who exited The River include actors Tango Ncetezo, who’s been playing Paulina since season one and multi-award-winning actor Lawrence Maleka who played Zolani for five seasons.

Sowetan reported in February that the International Emmy Award-nominated telenovela which first aired in 2018, scooping multiple wins at the SA Film and Television Awards (Saftas) over the years.

Phathu Makwarela, who is the executive producer at Tshedza Pictures said: “When we created The River seven years ago, we knew that we wanted to tell a story that will have a definite ending.”

“Now on its sixth season, we feel the time is right to bring the story of these beloved characters to an end, on our own terms and when viewers still treasure the show. As the saying goes, ‘a good dancer always knows when to leave the stage’, and now it’s that time for The River.”
