‘7de Laan’: David Rees’ family pleads for help, R500k medical bills
‘We are in shock’: ‘7de Laan’ actor David Rees’ family is asking South Africans for help with his R500 000 medical bills.

Actor David Rees’ sister says her brother, who plays Chris Welman in 7de Laan had a heart attack on Sunday, 30 August due to an arterial blockage.

DAVID REES: FAMILY SPEAKS
Brielfy reports that actor David Rees’ sister Michelle Buttle is pleading with South Africans to assist the family of the 7de Laan star with the medical bills.
His manager, Corlia Strauss told the publication that Rees was with his friends when he had the heart attack, an ambulance was called, and they contacted his sister.
His sister says they were sent from pillar to post, and after a misdiagnosis of an ulcer at a public hospital she decided to move him to a private hospital with a cardiology unit.
“David is not on medical aid, and I’ve had to cover accident fees, doctors’ bills, scans, and blood tests. The costs are mounting daily, and he will likely be hospitalised for some time. However, he is receiving excellent care.”
Buttle reveals that her brother’s condition is still critical, he’s in a lot of pain and fighting bravely and the family launched a BackaBuddy (crowdfunding page) to raise R500 000 for his medical bills. The public had donated R51 000 at the time of publishing this article.
