‘7de Laan’ confirms actor David Rees is hospitalised
SABC2 soapie ‘7de Laan’ has confirmed popular actor David Rees, who plays Chris Welman is unwell. Here’s why he’s hospitalised.

Talented actor David Rees, who is popularly known for his role as Chris Welman in Afrikaans soapie, 7de Laan is currently in hospital.

DAVID REES HOSPITALISED
Sunday World reports that the actor David Rees, who is known as Chris Welman in the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan, recently suffered a heart attack.
The soapie confirmed the news by sharing BackaBuddy (crowdfunding page) on Facebook on Friday, 4 August, which is pleading for funds to assist with the actor’s medical bills.
Rees, who is in need of a double bypass surgery doesn’t have a medical aid and this has placed a physical strain, emotional and financial burden on his family.
BackaBuddy statement reads: “We come to you with a plea from the depths of our hearts. Actor David Rees, known for his unforgettable portrayal of Chris Welman in 7de Laan, has recently suffered a devastating heart attack.
This unforeseen event has left him in urgent need of a double bypass surgery, placing not only physical but also emotional and financial burdens upon him and his family.
In this moment, we cannot ignore the desperate situation his family now faces. The weight of overwhelming medical expenses has fallen upon their shoulders, hindering their ability to fully support David’s recovery.
Unfortunately David does not have medical aid, making this already daunting journey even more challenging. We humbly ask you, to extend a helping hand. No contribution is too small or too large; every act of generosity counts.
Your financial support will alleviate the immense strain on David’s family, providing them with the breathing room they so desperately need.”
The soapie wished the actor David Rees, a speedy recovery and asked the public to read the page and donate if they wish to assist the thespian.
The crowdfunding page reveals that the actor needs R500 000 and had raised R31 000 at the time of publishing this article.
