BEYONCE BREAK MY SOUL

The superstar singer seemed to be making a statement with a surprising lyric swap in her song ‘Break My Soul (The Queens Remix) reports Entertainment Tonight.’ The original version of the song includes shoutouts to several iconic Black women entertainers, including Nina Simone, Erykah Badu, Lizzo, and more. However, Beyoncé raised eyebrows when she replaced the lyric “Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Row” with an emphatic repetition of “Badu” four times.

The timing of the performance is noteworthy, as it coincided with the news of a lawsuit filed by several of Lizzo’s dancers against the ‘Special‘ singer. The dancers, identified as Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, allege sexual, religious, and racial harassment, disability discrimination, assault, and false imprisonment, among other allegations.

FASHION INSPIRATION

Erykah Badu

Fans on social media have been buzzing with interpretations of Beyoncé’s lyrical shift. Some speculate that the omission of Lizzo’s name could be a subtle way of distancing herself from the singer amid the ongoing legal issues. Others see it as a response to Badu’s light-hearted shade on social media.

However, the intention behind the singer’s lyric change remains unclear, and it’s possible that it could be an acknowledgement of Erykah Badu’s influence rather than a shady move.
