Bright Hlongwane: The 22-year-old representing South Africa at the UN

Bright Hlongwane is very outspoken about his vision of the next generation’s leaders of South Africa. It is almost unreal to think that South Africans with this much optimism about the country’s future still exist.
However, Hlongwane is not your ordinary South African. The 22-year-old self-made entrepreneur, as reported by eNCA, has been called up to deliver a speech at the 2019 United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum in New York, on 8 and 9 April.

Who is the young Bright Hlongwane?
Currently, Hlongwane is the chief executive officer at Isimangaliso Group, Pty Ltd, a media company.
In 2017, the young dreamer was accepted into the Stanford University’s TrepCamp Advanced Programme.
According to IOL News reports, this was a 250-candidate programme that sought to develop entrepreneurial skills and acumen.

Since then, the 22-year-old has chaired the following boards:
- Indlulamithi Communications
- Youth in Business South Africa
- Black Youth Business Council
- Grind Circle
- Black Management Forum
Hlongwane is also the recipient of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Young Achievers’ award.
Hlongwane’s take on South Africa’s future
One of his strongest beliefs is in changing the landscape of South Africa’s politics and business. A more proactive economy is what South Africa needs, said Hlongwane.

He uses his expertise ” to achieve his dream of seeing a South Africa filled with more job makers than job seekers.”
Speaking about the future of our politics, the 22-year-old said that we need to have younger ministers in the government.
“We need more young ministers. Malaysia has a minister who is 26. We need to be part of decisions for our future,” he said.
With fresh ideas about our future, Hlongwane will be proud to be representing South Africa on the world forum.
