You can buy a rare R70k cognac from Shoprite’s new online liquor store

The Shoprite Group has launched LiquorShop Online – an online liquor store with the “largest selection of drinks and accessories” at supermarket prices!

According to Business Tech, after the success of their Checkers’ Sixty60 service, the group launched the online liquor store.

It is reported that they are selling much more than your rare Irish whiskey and fine wine or craft gin and your favourite beer; some of the unique premium products that are available include:

• Remy Martin Louis XIII Cognac – R69 999
• Bunnahabhain 25-year-old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky – R5 999
• A limited-edition 23-year-old Springbank Single Malt Scotch Whisky – R3 799
• Teeling Single Malt Irish Whiskey – R599

The online outlet will also stock a range of sought-after premium wines, such as The Jem Waterford Estate, Closilo Kopbeen Pinotage, and De Wetshof Bateleur Chardonnay, Business Insider reports further.

The Shoprite Group said that the online store is an extension of its standalone liquor store, LiquorShop, and comes after its brick-and-mortar store was voted South Africa’s favourite liquor store.

“As with its physical stores, LiquorShop Online will focus on offering unbeatable value across a massive range. Products will retail at supermarket prices, and customers can link their Xtra Savings cards to benefit from deals online,” the retailer said on Monday, 15 November.

Nationwide delivery

It is reported that shoppers (over the age of 18-years-old) living in Gauteng or the Western Cape will receive free delivery for orders over R450. A delivery fee of R75 will apply to orders less than this. In other areas, a delivery fee of R150 applies to orders of less than R1 000.

To order, shoppers can simply navigate to the sign-in of the home page where they can either enter your existing credentials or sign up as a new shopper.
