‘Way less than R39’: Checkers shades Woolies cake slices [WATCH]

Popular retailer Checkers trolled Woolies R39 cake slices on social media this week by stating that their cakes are cheaper than the latter.

‘THE MATHS IS ALWAYS MATHING AT CHECKERS’
The Checkers and Woolies cake war comes after South Africans requested Woolworths to start selling their popular cakes in slices.
‘R110 divide by 8 decent slices is way less than R39 per slice,’ said Checkers on TikTok.
While some social media users applauded the retailer’s marketing team for their brilliant clap back, Woollies fans on TikTok slammed Checkers’ “cheaper” cakes and said that the reason their cakes are cheaper is because they lack quality.
Katie said: “Can the marketing team pls get a raise? Major slay.”
Nolitha responded: “What’s 5+3? Ate! Marketing choosing violence.”
IOL reveals that the different cake flavours: rainbow, chocolate caramel and carrot cake slices are now sold for R39.99 each.
