Queen Elizabeth II’s COVID-19 diagnosis came nearly two weeks after it was learnt that Prince Charles had tested positive for the virus. People has cited a “source” as saying that both the Queen and Prince Charles had recently met before his test came back positive, but says the 95-year-old monarch hasn’t been showing any symptoms of the respiratory illness. He had been at Windsor Castle just two days prior to hand out investiture honours.

She recently announced that she would like for Duchess of Cornwall Camilla to become “Queen Consort”, once Prince Charles, takes over the monarchy, which would elevate her place in the royal family. It isn’t clear when Prince Charles is expected to take over from his mother.

Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth’s first born son, married Camilla in 2005. At the time, she was to be known as “Princess Consort.” This is despite the fact that she had a right to being named Queen. Camilla has become more popular over the years, but it wasn’t always the case – many disliked her after it emerged that she was having an affair with Prince Charles, who was married to the beloved Princess Diana.
