What would you do if you were a news reporter who got hit by a car on live television? This American reporter kept on reporting! Tori Yorgey from West Virginia was hit by a car during a live news broadcast on Wednesday 19 January and bounced back up to finish the job.

Just before she got back up she said: “That’s live TV for you!”

TORI YORGEY HIT BY A CAR

Tori Yorgey from WSAZ, an NBC-affiliated television station in West Virginia, was the centre of an unforeseen moment on live television. The news reporter was speaking to anchor Tim Irr about the weather in West Virgina when a car unexpectedly hit her.

After being hit by the car, Yorgey went straight into the camera but bounced back up reassuring Tim Irr that she was okay.

“I just got hit by a car, but I’m okay.”

“We’re all good”.

“That’s live TV for you, it’s all good. I actually got hit by a car in college too just like that”.

The woman driving the car climbed out of the car to check if the news broadcaster was okay.

HOW IS TORY?

Speaking to Philly Mag, Yorgey shared that the live news broadcast was actually her second last day at the WSAZ station. “It’s like they say: Go out with a bang. It was nuts but definitely could have been worse.”

She told the publication that she had some soreness in her leg and back but she felt better than she did on the day of the accident.

“I went live and words were coming out my mouth and then I just blanked out. I was thrown into the camera. In the moment, I thought she was running me over. It was really scary and then I think I was in shock.”

“The woman who hit me was very distraught. So the biggest thing for me at that moment was just letting her and the viewers know I was okay.”

TWEEPS PRAISE TORY’S COMEBACK

The video shared by sports anchor Lee Howard has been viewed over five million times. Tweeps praised Tory for bouncing right back into her news report after being hit by the car.

One tweep wrote: “You’re a star for handling this so beautifully. Hope you didn’t suffer any injuries.”

Another tweep said finishing the news report like a “champion” should get Tory verified on Twitter.

“Wow… one tough reporter,” wrote another tweep.
