‘Giving others a chance’: Konka temporarily closes its doors

On Tuesday, 20 June, popular Johannesburg nightclub Konka Soweto announced that they would be temporarily closing down as they were busy with renovations; the announcement has left their patrons with mixed reactions.

KONKA CLOSES ITS DOORS FOR RENOVATIONS

The establishment released a statement on Instagram and gave netizens a brief explanation as to why they decided to close the club, saying,

“This allows us to always maintain the best premium day club experience for you, our amazing customer.”

“We will officially be closing our doors on Monday, 26 June 2023, and re-opening at the beginning of Spring in September 2023,” the statement read.

In recent years, Konka has become the IT spot to visit when partying in Soweto because of its high-priced beverages and the possibility of rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous.

Not only is it highly-likely to bump into some of the most talked about Mzansi celebs when visiting the establishment, but international stars are also drawn to the famous nightclub. Earlier this year, American actress Gabrielle Union and her husband, retired NBA player Dwayne Wade partied the night away during their South African visit, Briefly reported.

After seeing Konka’s announcement, patrons and social media users have since rushed to the comment section of the post to leave their opinions.
