It’s BRAAI time, and we’re on the hunt for the best braai prices this weekend with the help of our handy basket comparison. We look at South Africa’s top supermarkets to find the best braai prices this weekend. Regular fans of this braai-basket comparison will note we’ve now added Makro to our comparison of the best braai prices.

Many of you have written in or commented and for Food Lover’s Market fans, please note that we are still in the process of adding them. So please stay tuned in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, this weekend, we’re looking at five supermarkets: Checkers, Makro, Pick n Pay, Shoprite and Woolworths.

As you can see, Makro enters our comparison and comes out tops straight off the bat. The bulk-seller is only slightly in front of Shoprite, which goes to show what great value that supermarket also offers. Weekend braai basket prices have stayed more or less the same for Checkers, Pick n Pay and Woolworths. They rank in the same order as last week.
