A family of a teenage girl, Andiswa Mdletshe, is looking for answers after their daughter was allegedly raped and poisoned by a taxi driver in KwaZulu-Natal.
TEENAGE GIRL TAKES A TAXI RIDE FROM HELL
According to Women for Change, seventeen-year-old Andiswa Mdletshe died after being raped and forced to drink brake fluid by a taxi driver in Nompondo, near Hluhluwe, KZN on 29 January 2023.
“Andiswa allegedly got into a taxi to drive to town to buy groceries. She knew the driver of the taxi and he allegedly told her, he needed to stop to fix a tire.”

TAXI DRIVER TAKES A DETOUR TO RAPE THE GIRL
It is reported that the suspect then turned the taxi to the bush and allegedly raped her. Afterwards, the suspect allegedly forced Andiswa to eat a pie and drink brake fluid.
“After Andiswa returned home, she was crying, vomiting, shivering, and complaining of stomach cramps. She was able to recount her ordeal to her parents but she died in the hospital later that night,” the report read.
TAXI MAN IS A WELL-KNOWN DRIVER IN THE AREA
“SAPS confirmed that the family violence, child protection, and sexual offences unit was investigating a case of rape. A charge relating to Andiswa’s death has yet to be finalised. No one has been arrested yet, even the suspect is known in the area and to the police. Our hearts are broken. We will fight for your justice,” Women for Change further reported.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old woman was found sitting on Champion Street in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday, 28 January; she told officers that she was raped.
The teen said that she fled from the hospital, and after this, she was raped.
Residents contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at 14:53 after being informed of the incident by the teenager.
Reaction Officers interviewed the woman upon arrival. She said she had been admitted to Osindisweni Government Hospital for a week for a medical condition.
She went on to say that she left the hospital on Monday night without telling anyone.
The teen told officers that she met an older man who took her to his house and raped her.
She left his house on Tuesday morning and has been wandering the streets since.
