Six AKA murder suspects arrested, KZN police announce

KZN SAPS has confirmed that six suspects have been arrested for the murder of AKA and his friend Tibz Motsoane.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that suspects have been arrested for the murder of well-known rapper AKA real name Kiernan Forbes.

Forbes and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were shot dead on 10 February 2022 outside Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

AKA MURDER SUSPECTS FINALLY ARRESTED

During a briefing on Tuesday night, KZN SAPS Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi provided a timeline of developments in the investigations.

Mkhwanazi said that two suspects were arrested in Eswatini on Saturday, 24 February for other cases.

In total, six suspects have been arrested in relation to the murder of AKA. Four are in South Africa and two are in Eswatini.

“These suspects six played different roles during the operation. You have a coordinator who is basically the master of everything and who is currently in custody and the two shooters that were also seen on the video circulated on social media.

“There were two spotters and one was inside the restaurant observing Mr Forbes and his friends. There is also an organiser of firearms and getaway vehicles. The vehicles and firearms used in the execution of the murder were all hired,” Mkhwanazi said.
