Generations: The Legacy viewers are unhappy with the soapie’s newest theme song, new characters, and storylines.

The show changed its popular intro song without warning last night (3 January) seven years later.

Mzansi’s second most-watched soapie Generations: The Legacy has introduced a new theme song, and new characters this season (eight).

The show changed its popular 2013 theme song which was a collaboration between renowned composer Trevor Jones and legendary saxophonist Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse.

#GenerationsTheLegacy on Twitter wants the 2013 theme song back and has labelled the new theme song ‘whack’.

Some viewers have even requested for the show to go back to its 90’s theme song when the show premiered and was called Generations.

Season eight also introduced new characters such as Lelethu played by Yonda Thomas, Cele played by Muzi Mthabela and Mandla Majola played by Momelezi Ntshiba.

According to TVSA Lelethu’s a reporter by profession and legendary actor Ntshiba played the guest role of Mr Khawula, back in 2014 before it was The Legacy.

Former Imbewu: The Seed actor Muzi Mthabela took to his Instagram account in November to let his followers know that he has a new role as Nkosiyabo Cele on the soapie.

Fans predict that he and his niece, Sphesihle Cele (Pearl Monama) will have an affair as she also slept with her other uncle (Siyanda).

Viewers also suspect that Yonda Thomas’ rebellious character Lelethu has replaced Kumkani Phakade.

#GenerationsTheLegacy viewers bid farewell to Vuyo Dabula who played the role of Kumkani Gaddafi Phakade for more than five years.

Other characters who got written out of the show include: Oby Phakade (Khabonina Qubeka), Siyanda Khoza (Kay Sibiya), and Lesedi Diale (Luyanda Mzazi).
