THE SAMAS ORGANISERS REFUTE ALLEGED R28 MILLION FROM PROVINCIAL GOV

The South African Music Awards (SAMAs) organisers have dismissed allegations that they had received R28 million to host the music ceremony this year. The two-day music award ceremony will be held at the Durban International Convention Centre on 17 and 18 November.

According to Briefly, as seen in a statement, the SAMAs organisers rejected the allegations that they received R28 million in funding from the provincial government, saying that the claims were just “manufactured fabrications”.

“We reject the figure of R28 million as just a political manufactured fabrication. We can confirm that around R20 million was suggested as part of a 3-year partnership. And procurement processes are underway in line with Public Finance Management Act,” the SAMAs organisers were quoted as saying.

The funding will go into various purposes including catering and security, EWN reported.
