The release date for ‘Shaka iLembe’ has finally been confirmed

‘Shaka iLembe’ is nearly here The anticipation for the series has reached new heights with the announcement of the release date.

It seems like the countdown to the release of the much-anticipated Shaka Zulu historical biopic Shaka iLembe is finally here and the date has been confirmed.

More about Shaka iLembe

The biopic which features a stellar cast of South African actors is set to be released 18 June at 20:00. The biopic will exclusively be available on Mzansi Magic. The biopic is produced by Nomzamo Mbhata who is also part of the cast. The production company behind the series is Bomb Productions.

The stellar cast includes the following actors; the main actors are Nomzamo Mbhata, Senzo Radebe, Thembinkosi Mthembu amongst others.

The series will narrate the life of the legendary Zulu king and the historical events which made up his reign. The production team consulted various sources before they started production on the show. These sources included academics, historians and descendants of the king including the late King Goodwill Zwelethini and Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi

Production company statement

According to News 24, a statement released by the production company was quoted:

“While the series is an entertainment title and a fictional interpretation of historical events, producers Bomb Productions have taken care to ensure that Nguni culture is authentically portrayed and respected,” the statement continued. “Fittingly, Shaka iLembe was filmed in 4K with state-of-the-art visual effects ensuring the best screen treatment for the sweeping dynastic saga that encompasses the Zulu, Elangeni, Hlubi, Mthethwa and Ndwandwe clans.”

The hype around the series all began with the trailer which was released September 2022. The trailer which gave potential viewers a glimpse of what can be expected from the twelve episode show included great visuals and sound.
