‘Rhythm City’ star Kealeboga Masango scores role in ‘Youngins’

Actress Kealeboga Masango, who played Zinhle on ‘Rhythm City’ has secured a role on Showmax’s upcoming teen drama series ‘Youngins’.

Former Rhythm City actress Kealeboga Masango has joined Showmax’s latest drama series, Youngins.

KEALEBOGA MASANGO: NEW ROLE

The talented actress Kealeboga Masango will portray the role of “it” girl, Buhle on the upcoming teen series, Youngins.

Masango will star alongside Gomora star Sanna Mchunu as Matron Lulu, and Keneilwe Matidze as Pearl “Miss SA” Buthelezi.

The streaming platform also reveals that actors Ayakha Ntunja, and Loyiso have also scored roles on the show.

The Queen actor Loyiso McDonald will portray the role of Principal Mthembu on the upcoming teen series.

BACKGROUND OF ‘YOUNGINS’

The Showmax drama series Youngins is a Tshedza Pictures production set at a fictional boarding school named Olifantsfontein High. 

It also features actors Lebohang Lephatsoana as Tumelo, Toka Mtabane as Khaya and Thabiso Ramotshela as Mahlatse.

Ramotshela who played Morena on The River will play an intelligent young man who challenges the status quo and takes his marks far too seriously.

The are joined by Thabile Tau as Sefako, who is head boy; Amo Telekelo as Palesa, a grade 10 learner, Tshepo Matlala as Tshepo, the class clown.

Lihle Ngubo will play Zinhle, a grade 9 learner with a damning secret; and Katlego Moloke as Alex, a non-binary grade 10 learner.

Youngins director Themba Mfebe (Adulting) agrees: “Youngins is a show written by young writers who live the true authentic lives of the viewers. This show is an unvarnished view of a generation that is defining itself right before our eyes.”

Showmax confirms that Youngins will premiere from 12 February 2024, with three new episodes streaming every Thursday onwards.
