Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé has broken box office records. The cinematic masterpiece released by the global superstar earlier this month is now the 5th highest-grossing concert film ever. According to Screen Rant, the film received a domestic gross of $21.8 million in its first week alone. Renaissance is currently ranking well in the US box office despite falling behind in films such as The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds.

Renaissance proves that Bey is still an icon, despite being in the industry for decades. She took a six-year hiatus before releasing the album, which went straight to number one and highlighted her journey as an artist, director and businesswoman.

What is Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé about?

Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé follows her 2023 record-breaking world tour. The documentary promoted her seventh studio album and also gave fans a look into her private and personal life. The concert film was directed by Beyoncé herself and features her family including her husband Jay-Z, as well as previous Destiny’s Child members.

How well did the Renaissance world tour do?

The Renaissance World Tour was a massive global success. According to Billboard, Bey sold 2.8 million tickets for 56 shows in North America and Europe. As reported by Forbes, the tour was projected to bring Bey over $579 million worldwide. It was named the second highest-grossing tour ever by a female artist and the highest-grossing tour by a black artist.

Beyoncé released Renaissance after a long hiatus in 2022. It was her seventh album and won 4 Grammy awards. According to the Grammy website, she became the most-nominated female artist with 79 nominations and is currently the female with the most Grammy awards in history with 32 wins.
