NIRVANA NOKWE MSELEKU: ‘I HAVE TO CARE WHAT THEY SAY’

Speaking to Sowetan the actress, Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku reveals she reads scathing social media reviews about her Outlaws character.

Nokwe-Mseleku also says there were moments where she thought her performance were terrible but came out beautifully. She had a mixture of emotions but she’s so happy that the work translated how it did which makes her happy,

“I was really numb to it at the beginning because I was more concerned about how people were going to receive me,” she said.

“I remember how I’d go on social media just to read what people were saying about me. Don’t ask me why but there’s a portion of me that believes I have to care what they have to say. Because at the end of the day, our viewers are our customers and their voice matters… if it’s warranted of course.”

WHAT ATTRACTED HER TO ‘OUTLAWS’ ROLE

The newcomer Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku also revealed to Sunday World what attracted her to the Outlaws character Sihle Biyela.

Nokwe-Mseleku tells the publication that she was attracted to the role when she first read the script as Sihle represents a well-rounded view of what it means to be a Zulu girl.

“I love how innocent she is, and how the level of her light is also indicative of the level of her darkness.”

She adds that Sihle is smart, sensual, kind, and respectful, but also a skilled woman who will take desperate measures in desperate times.

The actress also reveals that she relates to Sihle because they are so alike: ” Sometimes I go to great lengths, almost to my own detriment. I could see that in her too.”

Her character will also do anything for genuine love and she’s an intuitive woman and thinks people can manipulate that side of her.
