MISS SOUTH AFRICA 2022 GETS SAFTA NOD

“We are ecstatic at the nod and recognition for our hard work and being a female-led team makes this even sweeter. It really boils down to being a collaborative effort of many women, supported by the exceptional nameless faces and minds that work unrecognised behind the scenes,” explains Relebogile Mabotja, Black Swan Media executive producer and producer.

Last year – for the first time in its illustrious history – an all-female team organised, produced and directed the live Miss SA pageant and oversaw its debut offshoot reality television series Crown Chasers.

This is particularly pertinent considering the ethos of the Miss SA pageant and that the crowning takes place in Women’s Month in August.

MEET THE WOMEN BEHIND THE PAGEANT AND ITS TV SERIES

At the helm of the Miss South Africa Organisation is CEO, Stephanie Weil. The production staff – at the helm again this year for Sunday’s live pageant – were Black Swan Media and their all-female-led creative team as the producers and directors. This includes Mabotja, the live Miss South Africa 2022 and 2023 technical director Nadia White and creative director Azania Muendane.

The Miss SA team includes Stephanie Weil, COO Schané Fouché, Miss South Africa manager, Nhlanhla Shezi, head of legal Lisa Shein, PR specialist Janine Greenleaf Walker, writer Charmain Naidoo and social media specialists Kopano Tsengiwe and Thato Mphosi.

“What an honour to be nominated for such a prestigious award – it is a wonderful recognition of all the hard work the team has put in. We look forward to showing Miss South Africa fans and supporters what we have planned this weekend. Don’t miss it!” says Weil.
