Audiences of Showmax’s telenovela – The Wife is unimpressed with actress Khanyi Mbau’s role as Zandile The Resolute on the show and is demanding more screen time for Hlomu.
Readers and viewers of the show have complained about Mbau’s Zulu (language) and the storyline.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ZANDILE?
Fans of the show have taken to social media to criticise Zandile in season two of Showmax’s The Wife and have stated that Hlomu was a better wife than Zandile.
Actress and media personality Khanyi Mbau – who plays Zandile The Resolute in The Wife has admitted that she struggled to understand isiZulu in the Showmax telenovela.
Zandile is the wife of the eldest Zulu brother, Nkosana Zulu played by Mondli Makhoba.
She told Sunday World that she got a rude awakening onset and found herself struggling to understand the language.
“Sometimes they speak on set, and I don’t understand a thing, they laugh at me.”
“Imagine at 36 and I am still trying to learn a language I thought I knew.”
She also told the publication that the language challenge wouldn’t be an issue if she was acting in a soapie where she gets to create the character.
“But this character exists somewhere in the universe, people know her and feel like they have a relationship with her.”
“It makes it very hard to make decisions and I need to consider what the viewers and fans feel.”
