Tshedza Pictures’ latest show Champions has failed to impress South Africans after the ending of the award-winning telenovela, The River.

‘CHAMPIONS’: LOW VIEWS

The Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) February 2024 figures reveal that Champions received less than 300 000 views as it doesn’t appear in DStv top 30 shows.

South Africans have criticised the telenovela which stars award-winning actors Sello Maake KaNcube, Kgomotso Christopher and Jo-Anne Reyneke.

Tshedza Pictures’ is also responsible for Gqeberha: The Empire which currently airs on Mzansi Magic with 724 812 viewers.

@Lucymnguni said: “Honestly, I think this production company needs to take a break. Nothing is working, from Gqeberha: The Empire to Adulting now this.”

SOUTH AFRICANS UNHAPPY WITH TELENOVELA

@Johnny__the_2nd: “We are tired of same production always getting chance. Can’t they take a production break? They just ended six years show and now they are on Showmax with two shows. Why given this one? Are there no other production companies in South Africa?”

@Medicocre: “The guys from Tshedza Pictures must take a break. They are involved in too many things. Other production companies have to give us something fresh.”

@tklradebe: “It started out nicely but now the storyline is boring especially the uncle sabotaging Sne and getting away with it. Don’t like dragging storylines they should try My Brothers Keeper strategy even though there’s still beef between father and son they add new things to spice it up.”

@Renee_KG: “We liked that a woman was leading now they’ve now entangled her in a relationship that’s making her fail. Ah goa bora because women can be successful and shrewd without distractions.”

@Karabo_kem: “The show is boring. We have one production company writing and producing close to 10 shows, different channels. One or two of those shows end up failing and this is one of them.”
