  • Only 60-years of age or older.
  • Cannot be in any state institution.
  • You must not have more than R1 227 600-worth of assets against your name.
  • If married, you must not have more than R2 455 200 in assets in your name.
  • Annually you cannot earn more than R86 280 if single.
  • If married, you cannot earn more than R172 560 annually.

Furthermore, to ensure people don’t take advantage of old-age pension grants, everyone must pass a means test. There is a certain threshold to qualify for old-age pension grants March 2024. You must bring along the following documents to apply:

  • Verifiable/legal identification document.
  • Proof of your marital status, if applicable.
  • A discharge certificate from your last employer or Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) if you were employed.
  • Proof of dividends or income.
  • Proof of address.
  • Three-months bank statement.
  • Proof of all your assets and properties in your possession.

If you are very sick or too old to make the trip to apply for old-age pension grants March 2024, you may send someone if they have a letter from you and your doctor.
