Banyana Banyana’s Desiree Ellis shows off latest Volkswagen SUV

Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis was presented with a Volkswagen AllSpace SUV as part of the partnership she has with the German carmaker.

Celebrated Banyana Banyana coach, Desiree Ellis was handed the keys to a Volkswagen AllSpace SUV. The 60-year-old former professional footballer is in partnership with the German carmaker.

Ellis led South Africa to glory on the African continent and followed up the triumph by qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in 2019, according to Al Jazeera.

DESIREE ELLIS IS A TRAILBLAZER FOR WOMEN’S FOOTBALL

The team’s journey in the FIFA Women’s World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, came to an end in the 0-2 defeat to the Netherlands in the Round of 16.

Ellis received the keys to her new SUV this week.

The German carmaker said in a Facebook post: “Volkswagen recently handed over a brand-new Tiguan Allspace to local women’s soccer legend and Banyana Banyana Head Coach Desiree Ellis to mark the extension of our strategic partnership.”

ONE OF SA’S MOST CELEBRATED COACHES

Desiree Ellis secured the Best Coach award in the women’s category to win a record fourth CAF award and the African Football Association’s awards ceremony in the Moroccan city of Marrakech on Monday, 11 December 2023, according to the South African Football Association (SAFA).

“This award goes to everyone who works in women’s football because it’s a challenging job working in this space. A big thank you to all the coaches that have supported me and to all the administrators that have supported me”, Desiree Ellis said.
