According to the Cape {town} Etc website, Roscou Boonzaaier, who works at the Wemmershoek Dam, was in the right place at the right time.

Wemmershoek Dam is a rock-fill type dam located on the Wemmershoek River near Franschhoek and Paarl in the Western Cape.

It was constructed between 1953 and 1957 on behalf of the City of Cape Town.

It has a reservoir capacity of 58 644 megalitres and is the fourth-biggest of the Western Cape’s six major dams.

Boonzaaier captured a video of the leopard casually strolling along the bank of the dam before it disappeared into the nearby Wemmershoek Mountains.
