Temba, beloved founding father of the famous white lion pride at Pumba Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, has died.

The wild cats are believed to have pounced on their owner at the Lion Tree Top Lodge while his own wife watched helplessly

For centuries, there were whispers on the wind, rumours in the hills, and stories from tribesmen about beautiful white lions with piercing blue eyes that roamed the plains of Africa.
