Ireland has scrapped hotel quarantines for all arriving travellers. The move poses a threat to the sustainability of the UK’s hotel managed quarantine arrangement and could be a loophole to UK and Irish travellers returning from SA.
There are indications that the UK may soon be scrapping its controversial traffic light system which restricts travel freedom for South Africans and UK nationals.
Anyone travelling to the UK from South Africa will be required to quarantine in a government-approved hotel for 10 days.
Anyone from Southern Africa or who has been here within 10 days will be refused entry.
Travellers flying to England will be eligible for a shorter quarantine if they test negative after the fifth day of self-isolation.
