Tennis great Roger Federer is preparing for a life of picking up dog you-know-what after getting a family pooch.

The 40-year-old Swiss maestro took to social media on Sunday to show off the new addition to the Federer household.

The breed of dog is unclear, but its name is ‘Willow Federer’.

Federer, who has been plagued by recurring knee problems for the last two years, will return to the ATP circuit at the Basel indoor tournament in October.

Federer, who has 20 Grand Slam titles to his name, hasn’t played competitively since losing in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon last July.

Roger Federer’s most recent Grand Slam came in 2018

His Grand Slam tally is tied for second with Novak Djokovic and one behind record holder Rafael Nadal, who won the season-opening Australian Open.

Both Djokovic and Nadal are looking to add to their total and will face one another in a blockbuster French Open quarter-final match at Roland Garros on Tuesday.
