Listen up Orlando Pirates fans, new reports say Thabang Monare will continue to play his football at the Orlando Stadium for the Sea Robbers next season.

As it was previously reported around Mzansi last month, the local football community was stunned after learning that Monare was on his way out of Bucs despite delivering 25 games last term.

It was said that the club decided to part ways with the former Jomo Cosmos and Bidvest Wits star after failing to agree on new contract terms.

It has now turned out that the 32-year-old from Emalahleni, Mpumalanga will continue to greet fans with the cross-bones salute before matches in 2022/23.

According to a new report from Soccer Laduma’s Masebe Qina, the club and its new coach Jose Riveiro have identified Monare as a key figure next season.

“Siya sources have revealed that Bucs have backtracked on a decision to part ways with the star, with Monare now earmarked as a key player in new coach José Riveiro’s squad for the 2022/23 season,” the report said.

“According to insiders, the Buccaneers look set to offer the player a new deal, with indications that the midfielder could indeed form part of the Spanish coach’s team for the new campaign.

Meanwhile, the Soweto giants will look to enjoy a new combination in midfield. Monare and the newly signed Miguel Timm are some of the hardest-working central midfielders in the league.

Goodman Mosele is expected to continue playing regularly as well, therefore Pirates will utilise a three-man midfield as a guaranteed option and flexibility.
