Orlando Pirates mentor Jose Riveiro says the fans will always talk, suggesting he is unfazed by their opinions.

This comes as Riveiro has failed to guide Pirates to a win out of four DStv Premiership matches.

Ahead of the clash against Sekhukhune United on Tuesday night at Orlando Stadium, Pirates and Riveiro are aware this is a must-win clash ahead of the Soweto Derby.

Despite the Spaniard having clinched three domestic cups in the form of two MTN8 titles and the Nedbank Cup, he is struggling to win league matches and challenge Mamelodi Sundowns.

After two losses to Cape Town Spurs and Richards Bay across all competitions, Riveiro argues that it is unfair to judge him harshly on the recent results because they barely have a two-day training session.

“I don’t have opinions of the fans, fans are fans,” said Riveiro according to Idiski Times.

“It is normal. We lost on Saturday and they must be upset. Are you sure that football fans are critical of the coach? Are you sure?

“Even when we win, the fans are going to be upset because I didn’t play this player, I didn’t play this one and everybody else has an opinion in football.”

After the match against Babina Noko, the Soweto giants will turn their focus to bitter rivals, Kaizer Chiefs whom they face on Saturday at FNB Stadium.

Taking a glance at their previous or recent run, Pirates had many games in hand after playing four matches in the CAF Champions League, four in the MTN8 as they were crowned champions in October.

Moreover, they only managed to register two of eight matches played in the league as they sit in an unusual 13th spot with nine points next to their name.

RIVEIRO ON MEDIA CRITICISM AND FAN OPINIONS

However, the seasoned mentor adds that they will try again to go for a win despite their poor run.

“Even you guys (the media you have opinions), but there is nothing I can do,” he adds.

“The only thing that I can do is again sleep well, eat well, and recover (the players) because on Tuesday we have to compete again.

“On Sunday it was minus one (before the match today), think about it. Think about it. But we will try our best again.”

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune will look for revenge after their 5-0 loss in the MTN8 against a team that has sacked coach Brandon Truter.
