On Thursday Chiefs confirmed Dumsani Zuma’s disciplinary issues had led to the club letting him go with a year still remaining on his contract.

Earlier this year, Chiefs had announced the immediate suspension of midfielder Zuma for the second time this season. Without going into details, Chiefs stated that Zuma, this time around, breached the club’s code of conduct.

He was first suspended in November 2021 following his arrest for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, and on Thursday, Chiefs released the following statement to confirm Zuma would be leaving Naturena:

“Attacking midfielder Dumsani Zuma’s numerous disciplinary issues have led to the Club letting him go with a year still remaining on his contract… This follows his latest appearance in front of the DC, which resulted in his dismissal as recommended by an independent authority. The 27-year-old only featured three times in 2021/22 for Chiefs….

“Since joining from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2017, he has been suspended a number of times, including twice in one season. He was also sent to rehab and counselling in the season that just ended. Over five seasons, he played 100 matches (25 starts + 75 subs) and scored 13 goals. We wish Dumi well in the future.”

It now remains to be seen where Zuma will head after leaving Chiefs

As reported by KickOff recently, it was thought that Zuma could make a fresh start at AmaZulu, especially considering that Siyethemba Sithebe is set to head in the opposite direction to join Chiefs.

However, his representative from QT Sports, Basia Michaels, has stated that there has been no communication of that nature from AmaZulu.

“I haven’t received an offer from AmaZulu, I can tell you AmaZulu’s President [Sandile Zungu] hasn’t offered any kind of communication when it comes to Zuma,” Michaels tells iDiski Times.

“I’m not dismissing it, because anything can happen now that he has been given his clearance [from Kaizer Chiefs].

“There’s a lot that still needs to happen but the reality is as I speak to you today I haven’t received any communication from AmaZulu.”
