Kaizer Chiefs and South African soccer fans were left elated after the Amakhosi confirmed that rising star Mduduzi Shabalala was on his way to Belgium for a trial.

This came months after reports suggested he was on his way to Barcelona however that trial failed to materialize due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While Shabalala may be en-route to Belgium, it has since been confirmed that the Kaizer Chiefs starlet may still be given the opportunity to try out for the famed Barcelona La Masia academy!

“Well-placed Siya sources have informed the crew that the door for Shabalala to make his way to Barcelona is not closed!” a SoccerLaduma report read regarding the rising Kaizer Chiefs star’s proposed trial at Barcelona FC.

“Siya sources have informed the crew that Shabalala will still make his way to the Catalan giants at a later stage, after being selected by a technical study group for a LaLiga development experience, which would see him get the opportunity to observe the football life in Spain.”

Shabalala off to Belgium for trial!

“Kaizer Chiefs’ young sensation Mduduzi Shabalala jetted out of South Africa on Monday night for trials in Belgium.” the Official Amakhosi website said.

“Shabalala attracted interest from KVC Westerlo, a Club in the B Division of the Belgian League after a tremendous season with the Chiefs reserve team this season.

“He scored some crucial goals and created a number of opportunities for his Kaizer Chiefs teammates. The talented attacker also took part in the DStv Compact Cup earlier this year after being voted for by the fans.

“Shabalala will spend two weeks in Belgium before returning to South Africa for a few days. He will then fly out to Spain after being named player of the tournament in the Cosafa Cup.”
