Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with Burundian striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana after just one season.

Bimenyimana arrived at Amakhosi as a free agent when he signed in August 2022 and managed to score eight goals in 21 matches last season. The striker became the second player from Burundi to feature for Chiefs when he made his debut for the Glamour Boys in a 0-0 draw at home against AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership on 3 September 2022.

Bimenyimana scored his first goal for Chiefs against SuperSport United.

Chiefs release Burundian striker after just one year

He entered the history books of Amakhosi when he scored a hattrick of penalties in a 3-1 win over Stellenbosch in a league game on the 9 October 2022, becoming the first Chiefs player in the PSL era to score three goals from the penalty spot in a league game.

Earlier this week, Former Chiefs left-back David Kannemeyer pleaded with Molefi Ntseki to give the striker a chance this season.

Amakhosi could lack attacking options this season

“I think the boy’s first season in the PSL was not that bad,” said Kannnemeyer as per FARPost.

“Many players struggle in their first season, but Caleb showed some good signs and some qualities of a good striker.

“I think he deserves to be given another chance as he knows what is expected from him and I think he has adapted to the Premiership,” said the former Chiefs defender.
