Orlando Pirates might lose out on a target they have been tracking for months as Kaizer Chiefs swoop in.

Pirates have long wanted Shaune Mogaila, who is now available for free.

The agile winger recently parted ties with his old club Royal AM

According to reports, the separation occurred because the two sides were unable to reach an agreement on improved conditions for a new partnership.

Pirates are said to be waiting in the wings, having targeted the player before he joined the Durbanites.

However, Kaizer Chiefs are also said to be taking note of developments.

According to recent rumours, the Pirates and Mogaila were close to signing a deal for next season.

However, in football, things change quickly, and the most recent update may have the Buccaneers worried.

Deal in jeopardy?

First, a subsequent update from Soccer Laduma claimed that Norwegian club Valengra is serious about signing the player. But that’s not all. The Siya crew has subsequently stated that Chiefs, are also interested in the player.

“For Mogaila there is no shortage of options,” a source told Soccer Laduma

“It is just a matter of him and his camp making the right decision on where to go next. The player is at a stage in his career where he feels he should make enough money to secure his future in his next deal. It isn’t the same situation as when he was a youngster and trying to make a name for himself. He has been in good form and been performing consistently. Pirates, Chiefs and AmaZulu are all monitoring the situation of the player with interest,” said the source.

Orlando Pirates might be given a lesson in hesitation in this case.

It seems as though the club’s hard work and tracking could all come to nothing.
