Breaking: Chiefs and Pirates’ Black Label sponsor launch new cup

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates fans will no longer enjoy the Black Label Cup alone, all 16 PSL sides will now compete.

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will no longer be the only teams battling for a Carling Black Label event.

A new tournament named the Carling Knockout Cup has been launched, while the Black League Cup between the Soweto giants faces an uncertain future.

The Premier Soccer League announced the Carling Knockout Cup has replaced the Telkom Knockout.

The PSL’s chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza further offered a coy response on whether the Black Label Cup between Chiefs and Pirates will continue or not. Dr. Khoza told the media to simply ‘watch the space.’

Further details revealed that fans will be quite involved.

Supporters will vote for a team that will battle against the eventual champions in December.

The team that will be created via the voting system must include six players from the 15 teams that didn’t win the cup, as well as five players from the developmental Multichoice Diski Challenge.
