Maritzburg United part ways with Algerian star Fares Hachi

DStv Premiership side Maritzburg United are the busiest club in this January window. The club has parted ways with Fares Hachi.

Maritzburg United have ended their time with the rather forgotten Algerian defender Fares Hachi, according to a report from iDiski Times on Monday.

FARES HACHI LEAVES MARITZBURG UNITED

While the club is yet to make an official announcement that confirms the news, iDiski Times has assured the decision has been made.

“Maritzburg United and Fares Hachi have parted ways via mutual consent after the Algerian fell out of favour with the club,” the outlet reported on Monday.

“Hachi, 32, joined United from French outfit SC Lyon in October 2020 under then-head coach Eric Tinkler for his third stint in South African football after Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United,” the report added.

THIRD DEPARTURE IN A WEEK

The side from the KwaZulu Natal Midlands has now seen the departure of a third player within the space of a week.

First, it was Bongokhule Hlongwane moving abroad to play his football in Major League Soccer (MLS) with Minnesotta United.

After Hlongwane it was the Bolivian striker Ali Meza leaving the Maritzburg United on mutual consent to become a free agent.

Additionally, Meza told the media that he is open to offers in his homeland and he is also willing to make the long trip back to Mzansi should a good offer present itself.

FORMER CHIEFS STAR BALOYI TO JOIN MARITZBURG UNITED

A very reliable source has claimed that former Kaizer Chiefs central midfielder Lucky Baloyi is moments away from becoming the Team of Choice’s new footballer.

According to the fast-growing young local reporter Makonco on Twitter, Lucky Baloyi is just a medical test away from putting pen to paper at Maritzburg United.

The reporter said the now 30-year-old defensive midfielder will have a medical assessment at the KwaZulu Natal midlands club on Sunday 9 January.
