Chiefs coach hopes Vilakazi can focus on football, not Louis Vuitton

Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson says Mfundo Vilakazi is level-headed man for an 18-year-old and is grounded.

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Cavin Johnson warns young midfielder Mfundo Vilakazi to remain grounded.

Vilakazi was promoted to the first team this month having impressed in the DStv Diski Challenge.

The 18-year-old attacking player made his senior debut as a substitute for Chiefs in their Nedbank Cup last 32 exit at the hands of Milford FC last Sunday.

Johnson was impressed with the youngster but also warned him about challenges outside football that could hamper his career.

“He (Vilakazi) is a level-headed man for an 18-year-old,” said Johnson as per Citizen.

“He is quite grounded and I think that is because of where he comes from and from what he has seen in other players within the team.

“Let’s pray that as long as I am here, he is able to keep his feet on the ground an able to display what people want to see, which is football, and not Louis Vuitton, Gucci and things like that,” said the Chiefs coach.

Vilakazi could play his second match for Amakhosi as they host Moroka Swallows on Saturday evening.
