Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu has been relegated to the Amiens reserve team. He is yet to feature for the Ligue 2 club since returning from his troublesome loan spell at Rangers FC.

Just last month, Amiens coach Philippe Hinschberger slammed the former Mamelodi Sundowns star for being overweight.

Bongani Zungu set to finally return to action but…

According to reports from France, Bongani Zungu is set to feature for the Amiens reserve team this weekend when they face Le Toquet in the French fifth tier this weekend.

“The process is a little longer for Bongani Zungu. He struggled to lose the overweight with which he returned, moreover, late in South Africa.” a French report read.

“If weather conditions allow, the midfielder will return to action with the Amiens SC reserve team on Saturday against Le Touquet.”

The midfield maestro has been making headlines in South Africa during recent weeks over a potential return to the PSL with reports suggesting Kaizer Chiefs are interested in landing the former Mamelodi Sundowns star.

According to reports, Bongani Zungu has clubs in Turkey, Spain, Asia and USA keeping an eye on him. While he would like to continue playing abroad, him returning to South Africa cannot be ruled out completely.
