Benni gunning for more silverware

Benni McCarthy and Man United already have one piece of silverware in the bag after they beat Newcastle in the EFL Cup final back in February. Man United have sealed Champions League football

United’s first objective of securing a top four place has been accomplished. United’s form at Old Trafford has been especially imperious, with no defeats in their last 28 competitive outings at the Theatre of Dreams. How they wish the FA Cup final were being staged at Old Trafford.

How on earth do you beat Man City?

Now comes the tricky bit. United face a rampant Manchester City team hell-bent on claiming a historic treble. They’ve been crowned champions of England and are 90 minutes away from Champions League glory, they face Inter on June 10th in the final. How on earth do you stop a team with Erling Haaland (scorer of 52 goals this season), Kevin De Bruyne (the ultimate big game player) and Ilkay Gundogan (the ultimate clutch player)? Since February, City went on string of 12 successive Premier League wins. They also ripped Real Madrid to shreds at the Etihad.

There’s actually no foolproof formula. You guys need to have the game of your lives, and hope that City have an off day. It’s really that simple. Good luck. There are rumours emerging that Erik Ten Hag will deploy a central midfield trio of Fred, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen to crowd out City’s creativity in the engine room. Bruno Fernandes will shift into a wide role with Jadon Sancho on the other flank and Marcus Rashford through the middle. Anthony Martial and Antony are both injured.
