Mamelodi Sundowns get their 2023/24 CAF Champions League group stage underway this afternoon at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The Brazilians have been drawn in group A alongside Nouadhibou, TP Mazembe and Pyramids.

Fresh off the back of winning the inaugural African Football League, the Brazilians will now have to prove their worth in the longer, elite club continental competition.

In other news, Kaizer Chiefs legend Bernard Parker has broken his silence on the leg breaking tackle he received from Mamelodi Sundowns’ Bongani Zungu.

Now plying his trade for TS Galaxy. Bernard Parker was on the receiving end of a leg breaking tackle last month.

The Bafana Bafana legend underwent immediate surgery. He is now on the mend however he’ll remain on the sidelines for an extended period of time

Parker opens up on Bongani Zungu horror tackle

“I think there was ill intent in the Zungu tackle,” Parker told SportsNightAmplified on MetroFM regarding the tackle he received against Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I think it was a build up of emotions from him and looking at the two goals scored by Galaxy and how he was involved. When the incident happened, it was building up to it. We are all human and things like that do happen, I am not angry.”
