Burnley FC and Bafana striker Lyle Foster has received a massive psychological push in his battle against depression in England. The 23-year-old took a break from Premier League football recently so as to receive medical care. Foster’s break from football came at a time he was peaking. He had emerged as Burnley’s lone guiding light in an otherwise doomed Premier League relegation fight.

Burnley Express newspaper has reported that Pace took his turn in embarking on a walk last weekend at part of the campaign supporting the Mzansi star. “It has been amazing to see so many Clarets participate in the fan-led initiative of #mileforlyle,” Pace tweeted. “Our family got together over the weekend to do ours and discuss the importance of taking care of our mental health. You can check out our video on my daughter Ashlyn’s YouTube!”

The Burnley chairman further suggested ways which can help people cope with mental health issues. Pace wrote: “We can be around people we love, that love us and support us and help us when we are down. Smile a lot at people and say hello.

What else did Burnley boss say about Mzansi star?

“One of the things that is great about where we live is that people actually say hello to each other. Pace then sent a direct message to the South African international, saying: “Lyle, we love you, we miss you and we can’t wait to have you back with us. See you soon.”

The campaign targeting the Bafana forward was initiated by Burnley supporter John Robertson. The Clarets fan urged fellow supporters to upload their pictures onto social media platforms such as X and Facebook under the hashtag #MileForLyle.

How campaign for Bafana forward started

The Johannesburg-born forward signed for Burnley last season when they were campaigning in the English Championship. The Eventually, the Clarets earned promotion to the Premier League. However, the Vincent Kompany-led side has struggled on their return to the top-flight league. Kompany’s men lie bottom of the table with four points from 12 games.

Burnley should be hoping to return from the international break in a better form when they welcome West Ham United on Saturday. The game will kick-off at 3:00pm Southern Africa time.
