Amakhosi are aiming for the big price from the new format of the Carling Cup, a rebirth of the Telkom Knockout Cup

Kaizer Chiefs are determined to give their ever loyal supporters something to cheer about by going all the way in the Carling Black Label Cup kicking off on the 6th of January 2024. A newly reshaped tournament that will see all 16 PSL teams participate in what is expected to be a highly competitive road to the final. A road that Amakhosi will want to walk with purpose towards the top of the hill.

Amakhosi are aiming for the big price from the new format of the Carling Cup, a rebirth of the Telkom Knockout Cup in a form of Carling Knockout Cup. A 16 teams’ South African League Cup. Amakhosi won it 13 times to date, the last success came in the 2010 addition with a 3-0 triumph over the fierce rivals Orlando Pirates. Amakhosi will have to maintain a good run of form and consistency in order to end the trophy drought.

CAN THE GLAMOUR BOYS HOLD THEIR NERVES TO END THEIR TROPHY WOES?

In light of a roller-coaster last few weeks, Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has pledged his support for the technical staff and the players as he believes that they can turn the tables with the support of the fans. Amakhosi will turn their attention back to the league on the 28th of October, away to the in form Golden Arrows side; as they look to bounce back from a home defeat to Cape Town City.

A good restart to the league charge can bring the much needed confidence and a lift in morale for Amakhosi leading up to a crucial festive period. It is around this time when the league is starting to take shape, Amakhosi will want to end the year on a good note and carry the form into the Carling Knockout Cup. The trophy will be the next sought after piece of domestic silverware and Kaizer Chiefs will want to state their claim.

CONSISTENCY WILL BE THE MASTER KEY

The fans would welcome a sight of lifting a trophy in the current campaign and the players will always have that at the back of their minds when they take to the field. The semi final loss to Mamelodi Sundowns was the latest setback in the quest for silverware, but Kaizer Chiefs stood their ground and showed the glimpses of what they can bring to the field, it’s only a matter of time before the solid showing turns into positive results.
