Sharks v Blue Bulls: Preview,

Sharks centre Lukhanyo Am bursts through the Bulls defence to score at Loftus Versfeld.

The Currie Cup has reached its business end and early Saturday afternoon sees the first of the competition’s semi-finals when the Sharks host the Blue Bulls at Growthpoint Kings Park.

Form guide

John Mitchell’s men have it all to do against the rampant Durban side which has won all but two of their round robin matches and have looked particularly unstoppable throughout the season.

Their last defeat however was a home defeat in their previous game against Western Province and coach Robert Du Preez will be hoping this has not disrupted their momentum.

A huge concern for the Bulls will be their defence as they have conceded over 35 points in eight of their ten outings so far.

Head to Head

Both encounters between the two sides have seen the Sharks claim victory. They have been relatively low-scoring affairs – as far as the Bulls are concerned. The Durban side recorded a nervy 28-21 victory at Loftus after allowing their opponents back into the game in the closing stages.

Their most recent clash at Kings Park was far from a try-fest as the home side were made to work hard for their 18-5 victory.
