Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is available to return for the club in Tuesday’s Champions League tie at Salzburg.

Wijnaldum and defender Dejan Lovren have travelled with the Liverpool squad for the crucial final group stage match.

Adam Lallana, who missed the 3-0 win over Bournemouth, has remained on Merseyside as he continues to recover from a minor knock.

Lovren and Wijnaldum back for Liverpool

“Gini and Dejan are completely fine,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.

“We had pretty much a free choice apart from Adam. Adam is not coming but will be back in training on Thursday. Under pressure we probably could have used him, but we didn’t want to make pressure. How I said, it’s a small thing.

“It would have been maybe a risk or not [to consider Lallana against Salzburg], I’m not sure, but we decided to leave him at Melwood and then he can train with the team from Thursday on.”

Fabinho (ankle), Joel Matip (knee) and Nathaniel Clyne (knee) are all more long-term absentees but apart from them and Lallana Klopp has no fresh injury concerns.

What Liverpool and Chelsea need to do to qualify for the Champions League knockout rounds

Red Bull Salzburg will be without Antoine Bernede (shin), Patrick Farkas (health problems) and Sekou Koita (muscle injury) for the encounter that they must win in order to progress to the last sixteen.

Salzburg head coach Jessie Marsch says that his side would be relaxed ahead of the visit of Liverpool.

“I’ve met so many people over the past few days who have wished us all the best,” Marsch said.

“We need to keep our heads clear and just give our all. We know that Liverpool have been in this position for the last two seasons, needing points from the last game. We will go into the game relaxed.”

Erling Braut Haaland has scoried in every group game so far but keeping him from matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s feat of a full house, would go a long way towards achieving that result.

“They [Liverpool] are the world’s best team,” said the Norway striker, “but we know we are good at home, and if we are at our top level, we have a chance.”
