Kaizer Chiefs manager Molefi Ntseki says the medical team is working around the clock to solve injury issues on players such as keeper Brandon Petersen.

Ntseki addresses injuries suffered by Petersen and midfielder George Matlou who missed their 1-0 loss to Cape Town City.

According to the Chiefs coach, the duo missed the match as they sustained injuries a day before the DStv Premiership tie.

CHIEFS MANAGER SHARES INJURY UPDATE ON PETERSEN

Speaking to the press after the Carling Knockout Cup draw, Ntseki said Petersen and Matlou could be back in the next match.

After the FIFA international break, Chiefs will face Golden Arrows in Mbombela and Petersen could be back between the goalposts.

Petersen missed two of Chiefs’ last three league games, and the club lost both times with veteran keeper Itumeleng Khune in goal.

Additionally, Matlou came back into the Chiefs starting eleven in their dull draw against Royal AM but missed the clash against City.

“We lost George and Petersen when we were doing our captain’s run,” he said per iDiski Times.

“We all know how George has been doing in the last few games.

“Petersen came back to take the number one spot as a goalkeeper.

“It was a big loss for the club, for all of us when the two players got injured a day before the game.”

COACH NTSEKI ON RECOVERY OF TWO CHIEFS STARS

Furthermore, the seasoned former Bafana Bafana manager, Ntseki promised the fans that the duo will be back.

Ntseki said the medical team is working hard to ensure Petersen and Matlou are back in time for Chiefs.

“But I think the recovery period is good enough for us to have them maybe available for selection,” added Ntseki.

“Because I think the medical team is working around the clock, especially for players that are going through back-to-play or back-to-training protocols.

“But as of now, hopefully by the time we go into the next game, all players will be available for selection.”
