Ethan Brooks is tipped to become a new footballer at either Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns next season or as early as the looming January transfer window. For now, here is a brief look at 10 things to know about him, some of these facts are the reasons why his name came up in the offices of the Gauteng giants.

As The South African reported last week, the TS Galaxy attacker has caught the eyes of Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns scouts.  And as we all know, when Amakhosi, Amabhakabhaka or Kabo Yellow come calling, very few players pass on the career-changing opportunity to change the financial futures of their families. Such as the vast salary differences between teams like Brooks’ TS Galaxy and the clubs from the City of Gold.

Below are 10 things to know about Brooks:

  1. The 20-year-old ace was born on 1 March 2001 and was raised in Johanesburg’s Eldorado Park township in Soweto.
  2. Unlike most of our professionals in the DStv Premiership. Brooks was fortunate to enjoy quality education at Parktown Boys’ High School, where the fees are no less than R 55 000 as of 2020.
  3. It’s safe to say Brooks is a natural born athlete. He faced zero challenges when he was asked to show what he can do in a range of sports that included athletics, rugby, swimming, cricket and football.
  4. The central midfielder joined TS after he was spotted by the club’s charismatic former coach Dan Malesela. Brooks was then playing his football for Panorama FC at Radiokop.
  5. The nippy star recently marked one year as a pro player in SA football’s highest level – he was handed his TS debut in the GladAfrica Champions in August last year.
  6. Brooks’s name is already buzzing in every South African township despite having only 10 DStv Premiership games under his belt.
  7. Many local players in our land often have to wait until they’re nearly 30 but Brooks marked his Bafana Bafana debut at 20 against the Cranes of Uganda at Orlando Stadium back in July this year.
  8. The speedy number eight was involved in all of Bafana Bafana’s World Cup 2022 six qualifier matches, which included four wins, a draw and the dubious defeat at the hands of Ghana.
  9. The former Parktown Boy became the first Bafana Bafana footballer to cry over a defeat at a post match press conference.
  10. While he is sought by Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns, Brooks harbours a dream to play his football in places like Belgium, Italy or Spain.
