Manchester City take their ominous early Premier League form to Wolves for Saturday’s early kick off.

Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions have launched an impressive start to their EPL title defence.

Ailing Huddersfield were dispatched 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday as the Sky Blues ran riot.

Sergio Aguero notched his 13th hat-trick for the club, with Gabriel Jesus and the irrepressible David Silva also on target alongside a Terence Kongolo own goal.

It was the perfect follow up to their 2-0 cakewalk at Arsenal on the opening weekend.

Their free-scoring form has also taken them straight back to the top of the table in the early stages.

The rest of the EPL are already playing catch-up, then, even at this ludicrously early stage.

Standing in City’s way this weekend are the effervescent charges of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Last season’s Championship winners made a pre-season splash with a host of eye-catching signings, many of them from the coach’s native Portugal.

And they’ll feel aggrieved to boast only a single point from their opening pair of fixtures back in the top flight.

Repeatedly striking the woodwork at Leicester last Saturday saw the Black Country side come away from the King Power Stadium with no more than a 2-0 defeat.

Wolves’ opening weekend draw with Everton at Molineux also showcased their attacking intent after stepping back up to the top flight.

They will likely face no greater test of those admirable ideals than when the kings of England ride into the Black Country this Saturday.

Wolves team and injury news

Big bucks signing Adama Traore could make his first Wolves start against the champions.

Matt Doherty may also feature at the back, despite being forced off last week.

Manchester City team and injury news

Claudio Bravo was ruled out by a nasty training injury in the week, meaning Daniel Grimshaw or teenager Aro Muric will assume back-up keeping duties behind Ederson.
