South Africa vs India: T20I, ODI and Test squads

South Africa host India for a full bilateral series starting with a Twenty20 International at Kingsmead in Durban on 10 December.

South Africa host India in a bilateral series that gets under on 10 December 2023 with the first T20I.

Both nations have named their squads for all three formats.

Aiden Markram will captain the Proteas in the T20I and ODI series against India, comprising three matches.

Gerald Coetzee, Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi will also only play in the first two T20Is before being rested for the Tests, which form part of the World Test Championship.

Tristan Stubbs has been named to the Test squad for the first time, along with batsman David Bedingham and fast bowler Nandre Burger, who are all expected to be part of South Africa’s side to face New Zealand in February.

Both wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne and fast bowler Lungi Ngidi return after being dropped last summer, but World Cup star Heinrich Klaasen is left out of the Test team.

KL Rahul will lead the India ODI squad against the Proteas without several regulars, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya accordng to the ICC.

India will be back to full strength in the lengthier format, buoyed by the return of Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah after extended absences from Test cricket.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have requested a break from the white-ball leg of the trip and the former will captain the team in the Tests.
