Absa Premiership: PSL fixtures 19, 20 December 2017

One last hurrah before the December break.

PSL goal of the season

Hlompho Kekana of Mamelodi Sundowns celebrates his goal.

Twelve of the 16 PSL clubs played their last game of the year over the weekend as the Absa Premiership takes its annual mid-season break. The Pretoria sides on the other hand have to wait a couple of days as they have one last assignment apiece before calling it a year.

Having had a few of their league fixtures earlier in the season postponed due to their African commitments, Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport United play a bit of catch up during midweek in terms of games played .

Despite sitting well ahead of the pack at the top of the table, Sundowns have played 13 matches so far, two less than second-placed Kaizer Chiefs, while Supersport have a fair amount of ground to make up in both matches played and league position, occupying 11th place after playing just 10 games.

The two sides have had contrasting fortunes of late but will both be hoping to end the year on a high, going into their final fixtures before the league resumes on 5 January 2018.

Tuesday, 19 December

Mamelodi Sundowns v Cape Town City, Loftus Versfeld – 19:30

Pitso Mosimane’s men welcome Cape Town City to Loftus on Tuesday as they look to stretch what’s becoming an imposing lead at the top of the table.

A win for Sundowns would be their fourth on the trot in an almost perfect run which has seen them win six of their last seven matches.

Wednesday, 20 December

Bloemfontein Celtic v Supersport United, Dr Molemela Stadium – 19:30

Following their defeat to Baroka on the weekend, Supersport United will be keen to bounce back as they face another side reeling from a defeat from their last outing, Bloem Celtic.

Supersport have lost their last two games which incidentally have been away from home and will be keen to end the year on a high by ending a disappointing run which has seen  them win just once in their last five matches.
